Bacteriostatic Water 10mL
$15.00
A 10mL vial of sterile water with benzyl alcohol, the standard liquid for reconstituting freeze-dried peptides.
In stock at $15.00. Free worldwide shipping. For laboratory research use only.
Bacteriostatic water 10mL is a 10mL vial of sterile water with benzyl alcohol, the size most labs order with their peptides because it covers several vials over a few weeks. It costs $15.00 and ships free worldwide.
Order it with your peptides so the vials and the water arrive together. A box of freeze-dried vials with nothing to mix them in stalls a study before it starts.
What is bacteriostatic water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with benzyl alcohol added. The benzyl alcohol doesn’t sterilize anything, but it stops most bacteria from growing, which is what bacteriostatic means. That lets you puncture the same vial several times over a few weeks, which plain sterile water isn’t meant for.
It’s the liquid most labs use to dissolve lyophilized peptides. Every freeze-dried vial we sell, including BPC-157 10mg, RETA-3 10mg and GHK-Cu 100mg, is meant to be mixed with it.
Which bacteriostatic water size should you buy?
- Bacteriostatic Water 3mL: $8.00
- Bacteriostatic Water 10mL (this page): $15.00
- Bacteriostatic Water 30mL (H): $24.99
All three hold the same kind of solution: sterile water with benzyl alcohol. The 3mL vial suits a single peptide vial, the 10mL covers several over a few weeks, and the 30mL bottle is the better value for labs mixing a lot of vials.
The usual guidance for multi-dose bacteriostatic water is to use it within about 28 days of the first puncture. If you only mix a vial now and then, a small size wastes less.
How to reconstitute a peptide with bacteriostatic water
Let the peptide vial reach room temperature. Wipe both stoppers with alcohol, draw the water with a sterile syringe and run it slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial, not straight onto the powder.
Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it, because shaking can shear peptide chains and it foams. Each Peptira peptide page has a reconstitution section with the concentration for each volume of water, so write that concentration and the date on the label once it’s mixed.
The most common mistake is squirting water straight onto the powder, which foams and can leave peptide stuck to the stopper. The second is using one water vial for months after it’s been opened.
When to use acetic acid or PBS instead
A few peptides don’t dissolve well in plain water. For those, a dilute acid helps, and we stock Acetic Acid 10mL for that job. For cell work that needs a buffered, salt-balanced solution, use Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) 3mL.

Storing Bacteriostatic water 10mL
Keep sealed water at controlled room temperature, away from direct light. After the first puncture, wipe the stopper with alcohol before every draw, use a fresh sterile syringe each time and write the opening date on the label.
Background reading
Benzyl alcohol has been used as a preservative in multi-dose injectable products for decades, and its limits are well documented. For the research, see this PubMed search on benzyl alcohol as a preservative.
Adding Bacteriostatic water 10mL to a peptide order
Most labs add Bacteriostatic water 10mL to the same order as their peptide vials. Shipping is free on every order, so there’s no extra cost to bundling supplies, and everything arrives in one box ready for the same bench session.
A good rule is to order supplies for the whole study at the start. Count the vials you’ll reconstitute or store, add one or two spares, and you won’t stop halfway through a protocol to wait for a delivery.
Good lab practice with Bacteriostatic water 10mL
Clean the work area first, wipe every stopper with alcohol and never reuse a syringe between vials. Contamination usually comes from handling, not from the supplies themselves.
Label everything the moment you fill or open it: what’s inside, the concentration and the date. In a shared fridge, a clear label is what stops a vial being used in the wrong arm or thrown away by mistake.

Bacteriostatic water 10mL FAQ
Is bacteriostatic water the same as sterile water?
No. Bacteriostatic water has benzyl alcohol added, which keeps bacteria from growing so the vial can be used more than once.
How much water is in Bacteriostatic water 10mL?
10mL.
How long does it last once opened?
The usual guidance is about 28 days after the first puncture.
Is Bacteriostatic water 10mL in stock?
Yes. It’s in stock and ready to ship.
Can it be used in people or animals?
No. It’s sold for laboratory research only.
