What are immune peptides?

Several of these come from the thymus, the organ where T cells mature. Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid thymic peptide sold as a drug in some countries, and Thymalin, Thymagen and Vilon come out of Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator program in St. Petersburg.

The rest work on other parts of the immune response. LL-37 is the only human cathelicidin, a peptide that kills microbes and signals to immune cells. VIP is a neuropeptide with anti-inflammatory effects, and KPV is a short alpha-MSH fragment studied in gut inflammation.
