Our Thymagen 20mg vial holds 20mg of lyophilized Thymagen, a synthetic dipeptide bioregulator. It’s intended for lab research only.
Thymagen at a glance
Thymagen, usually spelled thymogen in the literature, is the dipeptide Glu-Trp: glutamic acid joined to tryptophan. It comes out of Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator program at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, which found it as one of the active fragments of thymalin.
It has been registered in Russia as an immune medicine since the early 1990s. The same dipeptide was later developed in the West under the name oglufanide, but it isn’t approved in the US or Europe.
Thymagen mechanism of action
Thymogen is thought to work like a thymic signal, helping T cells mature and shifting the balance of immune cell types back toward normal in models where it’s off.
The oglufanide studies added a second idea: in mouse tumor models it lowered levels of VEGF, the main growth factor for new blood vessels, which is why it was tested against tumor angiogenesis.

Thymagen research
Most clinical and animal papers come from Russian groups and describe thymogen in immune deficiency, infection and wound healing. Western work on oglufanide looked at hepatitis C and at blocking new blood vessel growth in tumor models.
Because so much of the literature is in Russian journals, the PubMed record is thinner than the history suggests. Search under both thymogen and oglufanide to find it.

Thymagen 20mg reconstitution and concentration
The amount of liquid you add sets the concentration. For a vial holding 20mg:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 20mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 6.67mg/mL
Choose the volume that suits your measurements. Mark the vial with the concentration and date so nobody has to guess later.
Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water. We stock bacteriostatic water in 3mL, 10mL and 30mL sizes. Warm the sealed vial to room temperature, add the water slowly along the glass wall and swirl gently until it’s clear. Never shake it.
How to store Thymagen 20mg
Freeze-dried Thymagen 20mg handles room temperature fine during shipping, but for anything longer keep it in a freezer at -20°C, away from light. Once mixed, keep it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and use it within about four weeks.
Leave sealed vials sealed until you need them. Dry powder in a closed vial lasts far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to mix more than one at a time.
Thymagen 20mg quality notes
Peptira labels each Thymagen 20mg vial with the compound and the amount. Labs that file batch documentation should ask our support team about the current batch before ordering.
Many labs run their own identity check when a new batch arrives. For peptides, purity is usually measured by HPLC, which separates a sample into its parts and reports the main compound as a share of the total. Mass spectrometry is often run alongside it to confirm the molecular weight.
Keep a record of which vial went into which experiment. Matching results to material is the simplest way to rule it out when an experiment doesn’t behave.
How many Thymagen 20mg vials do you need?
Start from the protocol. Total the amount every arm needs from the first time point to the last, divide by the 20mg in a vial and add a spare. It’s cheaper to order once than to wait on a second shipment halfway through.
Mix one vial at a time and keep the rest sealed in the freezer. Dry powder keeps far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to reconstitute everything at the start.
Keep vials from one batch together in a study where you can. The batch number on the label ties each result back to the lab paperwork.
