What are peptide bioregulators?

Bioregulators are very short peptides, mostly two to four amino acids long, that Khavinson’s group linked to specific tissues: Epitalon to the pineal gland, Thymagen and Vilon to the thymus, Cartalax to cartilage, Cortagen to the brain cortex and Pinealon to brain tissue.

The group’s theory is that these peptides enter the cell nucleus and change which genes are switched on. Most of the evidence comes from the same institute, so independent replication is limited, which is worth keeping in mind when you design controls.
