Cartalax 20mg is a 20mg vial of Cartalax, a tripeptide bioregulator, supplied as freeze-dried powder. It’s intended for lab research only.
What is Cartalax?
Cartalax is the tripeptide Ala-Glu-Asp, one of the short peptides linked in Khavinson’s program to cartilage and connective tissue. Its CAS number is 205640-90-0.
It comes from the bioregulator program led by Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, which proposed that very short peptides can bind DNA and switch particular genes on or off in specific tissues.
How Cartalax acts in the lab
Khavinson’s group proposes that short peptides like this one enter the cell nucleus and bind specific DNA sequences, changing how tightly the chromatin is packed in cartilage and connective tissue cells. Looser chromatin lets nearby genes switch on.
That model is still debated. What the published papers actually report is a change in gene and protein expression in cultured cells, and the mechanism behind it hasn’t been confirmed by independent labs.

What the research says about Cartalax
Published work on it comes almost entirely from Khavinson’s group and other Russian labs, mostly cell culture studies of gene expression in cartilage and fibroblast cells, plus some rodent work.
Independent replication outside Russia is limited, so it’s best treated as an early-stage research peptide.

How Cartalax compares
Labs choosing Cartalax 20mg usually weigh it against a few close relatives. Cartalax is the tripeptide Ala-Glu-Asp, linked to cartilage and connective tissue, while:
- Pinealon is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg, linked by its developers to brain tissue
- Cortagen is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, linked to the brain cortex and nerve tissue
These all come from Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator program in St. Petersburg. Each short sequence is linked by its developers to one tissue, which is how labs pick between them. See them all on our peptide bioregulators page.
How to reconstitute Cartalax 20mg
The amount of liquid you add sets the concentration. For a vial holding 20mg:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 20mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 6.67mg/mL
Go with whichever number is easiest to work with in your protocol, and label the vial with the concentration and the date you mixed it.
Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water. We stock bacteriostatic water in 3mL, 10mL and 30mL sizes. Warm the sealed vial to room temperature, add the water slowly along the glass wall and swirl gently until it’s clear. Never shake it.
Storing Cartalax 20mg
The dry powder keeps best cold and dark. A freezer at -20°C is right for long-term storage. After reconstitution, store it in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and finish it within roughly four weeks.
Leave sealed vials sealed until you need them. Dry powder in a closed vial lasts far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to mix more than one at a time.
Cartalax 20mg quality and handling
Peptira labels each Cartalax 20mg vial with the compound and the amount. Labs that file batch documentation should ask our support team about the current batch before ordering.
Many labs run their own identity check when a new batch arrives. For peptides, purity is usually measured by HPLC, which separates a sample into its parts and reports the main compound as a share of the total. Mass spectrometry is often run alongside it to confirm the molecular weight.
Write the order date and the vial details into your lab notes. If a result looks odd later, you can tie it back to the exact material you used.
How many Cartalax 20mg vials do you need?
Work out the total amount before you order. Add up what each arm of the study uses across every time point, then divide by 20mg. Round up by one vial so a spoiled sample or a repeat run doesn’t stall the project.
Mix one vial at a time and keep the rest sealed in the freezer. Dry powder keeps far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to reconstitute everything at the start.
If you order more than one vial, check that the batch numbers match before you start. Running a whole study on one batch removes one variable.
