Our NAD+ 1000mg vial holds 1000mg of lyophilized NAD+, a coenzyme. It’s intended for lab research only.

What is NAD+?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell. It carries electrons in the reactions that turn food into ATP, and it’s used up by enzymes such as the sirtuins, PARPs and CD38.

Levels fall with age in several tissues in rodents and people, which is why NAD+ and its precursors, such as NMN and nicotinamide riboside, have become a major topic in aging research.

How NAD+ works

NAD+ shuttles electrons in glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and the mitochondrial chain, so it’s needed to turn food into ATP. It’s also used up by sirtuins, which regulate gene expression, and by PARPs, which repair DNA.

Because those enzymes consume it, NAD+ levels depend on constant recycling. Falling levels with age are linked to lower sirtuin activity, which is the basis for most NAD+ aging research.

Published NAD+ studies

Work from Shin-ichiro Imai’s lab at Washington University linked falling NAD+ to age-related decline in mice. In a small human trial published in Science in 2021, Yoshino and colleagues reported that the precursor NMN improved muscle insulin sensitivity in prediabetic women.

Most studies raise NAD+ with precursors such as NMN or nicotinamide riboside. Direct NAD+ work is a separate research question.

How NAD+ compares

NAD+ 1000mg is easier to place once you see it next to the compounds it’s usually compared with. NAD+ is the coenzyme behind cell energy and sirtuin activity, whose levels fall with age. The others:

  • Epithalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, studied for telomerase activity
  • Glutathione is the cell’s main antioxidant tripeptide
  • MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide coded in mitochondrial DNA, studied for glucose use in muscle
  • FOXO4-DRI is a D-amino-acid peptide built to push senescent cells into apoptosis

Aging research splits into a few processes, and each of these compounds targets one: telomeres, cell energy, oxidative stress, mitochondrial signaling or senescent cells. See them all on our anti-aging peptides page.

NAD+ 1000mg quality and handling

Peptira labels each NAD+ 1000mg vial with the compound and the amount. Labs that file batch documentation should ask our support team about the current batch before ordering.

Many labs run their own identity check when a new batch arrives. For peptides, purity is usually measured by HPLC, which separates a sample into its parts and reports the main compound as a share of the total. Mass spectrometry is often run alongside it to confirm the molecular weight.

If you run a long study, try to order everything you need at once and log it when it arrives. It removes one variable from your results.

Reconstituting NAD+ 1000mg

Here’s the math for 1,000mg of NAD+:

  • 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 333.33mg/mL
  • 5mL of bacteriostatic water gives 200mg/mL
  • 10mL of bacteriostatic water gives 100mg/mL

Choose the volume that suits your measurements. Mark the vial with the concentration and date so nobody has to guess later.

Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water. We stock bacteriostatic water in 3mL, 10mL and 30mL sizes. Warm the sealed vial to room temperature, add the water slowly along the glass wall and swirl gently until it’s clear. Never shake it.

NAD+ 1000mg storage and shelf life

Store sealed vials of NAD+ 1000mg in the freezer at -20°C, out of direct light. Mixed solution goes in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and should be used within about 28 days.

Let a frozen vial warm up to room temperature before you open it. Cold glass pulls moisture out of the air, and moisture is what degrades dry peptide.

Other NAD+ strengths

  • NAD+ 500mg: $59.00, about $0.12 per mg
  • NAD+ 1000mg (this page): $109.00, about $0.11 per mg

For longer projects a larger vial like NAD+ 1000mg means fewer vials to mix and fewer reorders.
