GHRP-6 5mg from Peptira is 5mg of GHRP-6 in a sealed glass vial. GHRP-6 is a synthetic growth hormone releasing hexapeptide. It’s intended for lab research only.
What is GHRP-6?
GHRP-6 is a six-amino-acid synthetic peptide, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, from Cyril Bowers’ work in the early 1980s. It was one of the first growth hormone releasing peptides, and it was studied years before ghrelin, the hormone it mimics, was found in 1999.
It’s best known for two things: a clear GH release and a strong jump in appetite. That appetite effect is why it’s still a common tool in feeding research.
How GHRP-6 acts in the lab
GHRP-6 activates GHS-R1a in the pituitary and hypothalamus. That releases GH directly and also boosts the effect of GHRH while holding back somatostatin.
The same receptor sits in the brain’s appetite centers, which explains the hunger effect. GHRP-6 also binds CD36, a receptor on heart and blood vessel cells, which is the basis for the cardiac studies.

What the research says about GHRP-6
Bowers and colleagues described its GH-releasing effect in 1984, and it became the reference compound for the receptor later named GHS-R1a.
Animal studies since then have looked at GHRP-6 in heart muscle protection and in gut and liver injury models, separate from its effect on GH.

GHRP-6 5mg vs related compounds
Labs choosing GHRP-6 5mg usually weigh it against a few close relatives. GHRP-6 releases GH and strongly raises appetite, the classic tool for feeding research, while:
- CJC-1295 No DAC is a stabilized GHRH(1-29) with a half-life of about 30 minutes, giving short, natural-looking pulses
- CJC-1295 DAC binds albumin and lasts about a week, giving a raised GH baseline instead of short pulses
- Sermorelin is the unmodified first 29 amino acids of GHRH, broken down within minutes
- Tesamorelin is full-length GHRH with a fatty acid cap, the only GHRH analog currently approved as a drug in the US
- Ipamorelin is the most selective ghrelin-receptor peptide, with little effect on cortisol or prolactin
The GHRH analogs (CJC-1295, sermorelin, tesamorelin) all act on the same receptor, and the real difference is how long each one lasts. Ipamorelin, GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 work on the ghrelin receptor instead, which is why labs so often pair one from each side. See them all on our growth hormone peptides page.
GHRP-6 5mg quality notes
The vial label shows the compound and the amount. For anything your lab needs on file beyond that, email Peptira support with the product name before you place the order.
Labs that check material in-house normally confirm identity with mass spectrometry, which checks the molecular weight, and measure purity with HPLC, which separates the main compound from anything else in the sample.
If you run a long study, try to order everything you need at once and log it when it arrives. It removes one variable from your results.
GHRP-6 5mg reconstitution and concentration
Here’s the math for 5mg of powder:
- 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/mL
- 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5mg/mL
- 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 1.67mg/mL
Choose the volume that suits your measurements. Mark the vial with the concentration and date so nobody has to guess later.
Bacteriostatic water is the usual choice, and acetic acid helps with peptides that won’t dissolve in water alone. Add it slowly so it runs down the side of the vial, then swirl or roll until everything dissolves. Shaking can shear peptide chains. Skip it.
How to store GHRP-6 5mg
Store sealed vials of GHRP-6 5mg in the freezer at -20°C, out of direct light. Mixed solution goes in the fridge at 2 to 8°C and should be used within about 28 days.
Leave sealed vials sealed until you need them. Dry powder in a closed vial lasts far longer than solution, so there’s no reason to mix more than one at a time.
